Tankbook
Moving from AquaticLog to Tankbook
Your measurement history comes with you. The whole move takes about five minutes.
The pledge: logging your own tank is never paywalled in Tankbook. Unlimited entries, all parameters, full history, no account. Paid features are extras like strip scanning and forecasting, not permission to write things down.
Step 1: export your data from AquaticLog
- Open AquaticLog and go to the Measurements page.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap the Export button. Exporting your own data is part of their free tier.
- Save the CSV file somewhere you can reach from your phone: the Files app, iCloud Drive, or Google Drive all work.
If the export button has moved in a recent AquaticLog update, any screen that produces a CSV file of your measurements will do.
Step 2: import it into Tankbook
- In Tankbook, open the Tools tab and choose Import CSV.
- Pick which tank the history belongs to. If you have not created the tank yet, do that first; the preset takes ten seconds.
- Choose your CSV file. Tankbook detects the layout automatically, whether it is one measurement per row or one column per parameter.
- Check the detected columns, then tap Import.
What carries over
All measurements: dates, values, and parameters, including custom ones. Columns Tankbook does not recognize become custom parameters on your tank, so nothing is dropped silently.
Photos and journal notes are not part of a CSV export, so those stay behind. Importing is also safe to repeat: rows that already exist are skipped, never duplicated.
Common questions
- Is importing free?
- Yes. Import and export are both free, permanently. An app that charges to let your data in or out is holding it hostage.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Tankbook works fully offline. Your data lives on your phone and you can export it any time.
- My file will not import. Now what?
- Email it to us (address below) and we will make the importer handle it. Odd CSV files are a bug on our side, not yours.
